The final scene is a shaky, green-hued night-vision shot. Mia’s lab phone records a voicemail left at 2:17 a.m.; the caller ID is Deborah’s number. No one answers when Mia calls back. The voicemail is a child’s voice, laughing, then a phrase repeated over and over in a cadence Deborah never used: “Tick. Keep. Open. Tick. Keep. Open.”
: As the cameras roll, Deborah’s behavior becomes increasingly bizarre and violent, far exceeding the typical symptoms of dementia.
The plot of The Taking of Deborah Logan is straightforward. A group of filmmakers sets out to make a documentary about Deborah Logan, an Alzheimer's patient who is experiencing strange and terrifying occurrences. As the crew documents Deborah's life, they begin to notice that she is becoming increasingly erratic and violent.
