Changing directories is cheap on modern SSDs, but frequent cd into deeply nested paths (especially over network drives) hurts. Instead, open a separate shell tab for each major directory.

Now the active directory changes to /ss . Inside a nippyfile system, directories are logical containers, not necessarily physical folders. ss often holds "snapshot segments" – small, frequently updated files.
