While the height of SSR was 2015-2018, a dedicated group of modders have taken the open-source "12 ssr" code and recompiled it for the latest version of Garry's Mod. Search for "SSR Revival" or "GMod Legacy Racing."
It's worth noting a point of confusion: there is no official "Garry's Mod 12" on Steam. The developer, Garry Newman, skipped version numbers and jumped from version 11 directly to 13. The current version on Steam, GMod 13, comes with the and Steam Workshop integration.
The remaining parts— and "SSR" —carry the real weight.
Once you're in a game world (in Sandbox or another gamemode), the mod may be active by default, or you may need to access its configuration menu.
