The film follows , a former Soviet criminal investigator who was framed and imprisoned by corrupt colleagues and the crime boss Shaman. Upon his release, he returns to Moscow to find a new Russia ruled by rival gangs. After his friend is murdered, Korenev wages a brutal one-man war against the new criminal order, settling scores with Shaman, the sadistic gang leader "Ape", and other kingpins.
