It is easy to confuse these terms, but they serve entirely different purposes:
If the repair fails, you can sometimes extract the data by opening a new, blank workbook, typing =$A$1 (or referencing the corrupted file's specific cell directly) and dragging the formula across to pull data from the broken workbook.
If you are willing to move out of Microsoft Excel, Google Sheets has dozens of free add-ons (like “Power Tools” or “Sheetgo”) that perform similar data manipulation tasks. They require no license key—just a Google account.
The only secure and ethical way to unlock the full capabilities of the software is through authorized channels.
A genuine license key entitles you to customer support and software updates. A cracked version does not. When Microsoft releases an update to Excel (e.g., moving from version 2019 to 365), your cracked Dr.Excel add-in will break. You will be left with error messages and corrupted spreadsheets with no way to fix them.
