Over the years, HD Tune Pro evolved to keep pace with changing storage technologies. Version 4.00 in December 2009 added support for disks larger than 2 TB. Version 5.00 in November 2011 introduced file-based benchmarks for sequential and random read/write speeds, as well as new monitoring functions. Version 5.50 in April 2013 added the ability to check the health status of all connected drives simultaneously and run S.M.A.R.T. self-tests. Version 5.60 in May 2015 improved temperature detection, added JPG screenshot exports, and introduced command-line options to list all available drives. Each iteration refined the tool, adding support for newer hardware and fixing bugs, culminating in the polished experience offered by version 5.75.
