A great king performed a hundred-year-long sacrifice, and the Fire God, Agni, became sick from consuming too much sacrificial butter. To cure his ailment, Agni needed to devour the vast Khandava forest, but the god Indra kept raining on his efforts. Finally, Lord Krishna and Arjuna helped Agni burn the forest to the ground.
