Born in Ratnapura, Sri Lanka, in 1977, Vimukthi Jayasundara was a precocious talent. Before he was 17, he had already written, directed, and acted as a critic on three short films. After a brief stint in the advertising world, he returned to his true passion, cinema, to create works that spoke to the soul of his traumatized country.
